We Spent 90 Days Testing 7 Mobile Deep Linking Platforms So You Don't Have To

If you have ever clicked a link on your phone, expected to land inside a specific app screen, and ended up staring at a generic home page instead—you have experienced what the mobile industry euphemistically calls a "broken deep link." It is a friction point that costs apps measurable revenue, degrades user experience, and quietly undermines the attribution data that marketing teams depend on to make budget decisions.
The platforms that promise to solve this problem have multiplied considerably. The market now includes established incumbents, aggressive challengers, and several newer entrants making bold claims about accuracy and ease of implementation. To cut through the noise, the DeepLinker editorial team spent 90 days conducting structured, hands-on evaluations of seven major deep linking and mobile attribution platforms across both iOS and Android environments.
Our testing methodology prioritized real-world scenarios over synthetic benchmarks: deferred deep links triggered from email campaigns, cross-platform user journeys that began on desktop web and concluded in-app, attribution accuracy across paid social channels, and cold-start link resolution times under varying network conditions. Here is what we found.
The Testing Environment
All seven platforms were evaluated against a standardized test application built in React Native, with native Swift and Kotlin modules for platform-specific testing. We simulated user journeys across three device categories: mid-range Android (Samsung Galaxy A54), flagship Android (Pixel 8 Pro), and iOS (iPhone 15 and iPhone 13 mini). Platform Verdicts
Branch — Editor's Choice for Mid-Market
Branch remains the most complete deep linking solution for organizations that need robust out-of-the-box functionality without extensive custom engineering. Its Universal Links and App Links handling on iOS and Android respectively was the most consistently reliable in our testing, with a cold-start resolution accuracy of 94.3 percent across all device and network combinations. Deferred deep linking—where a user clicks a link, installs the app, and is routed to the correct in-app destination post-install—worked correctly in 97 of 100 test runs.
The integration timeline for a standard implementation was approximately 6 developer hours, the lowest of any platform we tested. The dashboard is genuinely usable by non-technical stakeholders, which matters considerably for marketing teams that need to create and manage links independently.
Where Branch shows limitations is at the enterprise scale. Organizations with complex multi-brand architectures or high-volume attribution requirements will encounter ceiling effects in the standard tier.
AppsFlyer — Best for Attribution-Heavy Organizations
AppsFlyer's core competency is attribution, and that focus is evident throughout the product. Its probabilistic matching algorithm—used when deterministic device identifiers are unavailable, which is increasingly common in a post-IDFA iOS environment—outperformed every other platform in our testing by a meaningful margin. In scenarios where Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt had been declined, AppsFlyer correctly attributed 78 percent of installs to their source campaign, compared to a category average of 61 percent.
Deep linking performance was solid but not exceptional. Resolution accuracy came in at 91.7 percent, slightly below Branch, with occasional inconsistencies on older iOS versions. Integration complexity is higher than Branch; our test implementation required approximately 11 developer hours and a more involved SDK configuration process.
For performance marketing teams managing significant paid acquisition budgets across Google, Meta, and connected TV channels, AppsFlyer's attribution depth justifies the additional setup investment.
Adjust — Strong Enterprise Contender
Adjust presents a compelling case for larger organizations, particularly those with existing relationships in the European market (the company is headquartered in Berlin but maintains a substantial US presence). Its fraud prevention suite was the most sophisticated we encountered, flagging simulated click injection attempts and install farms with higher precision than competitors.
Deep link resolution accuracy was 92.1 percent in our tests. The platform's Audience Builder feature—which allows segmentation-based deep link targeting—is a genuinely differentiated capability that neither Branch nor AppsFlyer matches natively. Integration timeline was comparable to AppsFlyer at approximately 10 to 12 hours.
Kochava — The Data Warehouse Choice
Kochava is best understood as a measurement and data infrastructure platform that includes deep linking, rather than a deep linking platform that includes measurement. Its free-tier offering (Free App Analytics) is legitimately useful for early-stage apps. At the enterprise level, its data export capabilities and raw log access are unmatched in the category.
However, deep link resolution accuracy (88.4 percent in our testing) and deferred deep linking reliability were the weakest among the established platforms. Teams whose primary use case is link-driven user journeys should look elsewhere.
Singular — Best for Unified Cost Aggregation
Singular occupies an interesting position: it is the only platform in our test group that natively aggregates marketing cost data alongside attribution, enabling true ROI measurement without additional data pipeline work. For growth teams that spend significant time reconciling spend data across ad networks, this capability alone may justify the platform.
Deep link performance was competent (91.2 percent accuracy) without being category-leading. The integration experience was the most developer-friendly of the attribution-first platforms, with well-maintained SDK documentation and a responsive support team.
Airbridge — The Emerging Challenger
Airbridge was the platform that most surprised us during testing. This South Korea-based company has been expanding aggressively in the US market, and its technical execution is considerably more mature than its brand recognition would suggest. Deep link resolution accuracy reached 93.1 percent—second only to Branch—and its cross-platform web-to-app journey handling was the most seamless we encountered.
The platform's interface is polished and its pricing model is more transparent than most competitors. The primary risk factor is ecosystem maturity: third-party integrations and community resources are less extensive than the established players. For technically sophisticated teams comfortable building custom integrations, Airbridge represents a compelling alternative.
Firebase Dynamic Links — Proceed With Caution
Google deprecated Firebase Dynamic Links in August 2023, with full shutdown scheduled for August 2025. We included it in our testing because a substantial number of US apps remain dependent on it. Performance was predictably inconsistent given the deprecation trajectory. If your organization is still running Dynamic Links, migration should be treated as an urgent priority, not a future roadmap item.

What Caught Us Off Guard
